🎵 Echoes of Identity: Visual Album Design for a Two-Spirit Hip-Hop Duo (2022)
A multidisciplinary design project exploring culture, identity, and artistry. This visual package was created for a Two-Spirit music duo, blending photo-based composition, digital illustration, and cultural motifs across album cover, sleeves, tray cards, and booklet artwork.
🖼️ Album Cover
A reimagined Ghost Dance painting forms the album’s foundation—ethereal, layered, and haunting. Musicians are overlaid in dynamic poses, merged with bold typography and artist branding. Grey figures fade into a birchbark-white backdrop, symbolizing cultural endurance and transformation.
📀 Full Panel Design
These six-panel layouts interweave photography, illustration, and lyric typography to depict themes of cultural dialogue, rebellion, humor, and identity. Highlights include a lyrical jungle backdrop, endoskeletons in a city alley, and a symbolic showdown between tradition and modernity.
💿 Tray Cards
The back cover includes a stylized scene of a Thunderbird striking colonial wagons pulled by dinosaurs—bold satire meets myth. Below: the phrase “You have died of colonialism” reframes familiar tropes with biting humor. Inside, a candid photo captures QueerSun mid-performance.
🎨 Booklet & Illustration Highlights
This section features original illustrations layered with photographic elements: QueerSun facing off with a Fancy Dancer; a guitar standoff with NeebinatorX; and a CD face bearing spiritual motifs and modern flair. Each piece was designed to celebrate expression, resilience, and fusion.
